Hawfinch

Hawfinches are capable of astonishing feats of strength, quite capable of cracking open cherry stones.

Penduline Tit

The nest of the Pendulione Tit is an extraordinary piece of architecture and is woven from spiders webs, animal hair, wool and soft plant material.

Ural Owl

This is a fairly typical nest site for a Ural Owl right in the top of a broken stump of a tree. They can be very aggressive when they have young but this one was quite happy to stare back at me through almost closed eyes.

White Wagtail

the Estonian population of White Wagtail migrates south in the winter unlike it's more sedentary southern European counterparts.

Wryneck

Now a rare visitor to Britain, the Wryneck can be seen regularly in Estonia, where this one was photographed. It is one of the most unusual members of the woodpecker family both in appearance and behaviour.
