Twenty plus years of leading bird tours around the UK and to destinations across five continents has provided a wealth of wonderful encounters with the natural world as well as a long list of friends, from fellow travellers to ground agents, hotel staff and guides. This talk examines the key aspects of making a wildlife tour work, the important attributes of a good tour leader and a light-hearted review of those more challenging moments when, despite all the best preparation, not everything went entirely to plan!
